The introduction of salary sacrifice schemes ( child-care vouchers, cycle to work, home technology, additional leave and car lease) via a third party portal that also offers discount to employees on a wide range of local and national goods and services. The schemes are forecast to deliver over half a million pounds over two years.

Using the third party approach, the council resource engaged in managing the schemes is minimal.

Previous schemes (and the resultant savings) had lapsed due to lack of resource in services (and the unpredictability of participation). Moving to a web based approach it was possible to expand the range of benefits for staff and capture meaningful savings.


The softer benefits will include; an engaged workforce, flexibility for staff around work / life balance a carbon off-set programme for car lease participants and a healthier work-force for cycle scheme participants.

  • The more you market the schemes, the greater the participation.


  • Engage with Unions and payroll at all stages.


  • Ensure FAQ’s are understood by the lowest common denominator.
