In order to achieve the successful transfer, the following key activities were undertaken:

  • Development of a robust performance framework to ensure demonstration of best value
  • Development of governance arrangements
  • Staff engagement and change management
  • Integration Planning and Implementation
  • Legal/Contractual Work
  • Improved offering to customers
  • Simple one-stop shop for sport and culture
  • Better able to reach hard to reach groups/cross marketing of services
  • Efficiencies in back office services
  • Improved accountability

Time spent on engagement with politicians and staff affected (both within SBC and within Borders Sport and Leisure Trust) early and at key points through the project ensured that this significant change was managed successfully and with few problems.
